Children enjoying a Nordic Ski Session

Junior Development Squad (JDS)

These sessions are invite only for children who have completed our After School Sessions of the Sunday Club Sessions.

The aim of this is to develop cross-country skiing skills both on and off snow to gain one of the 6 coloured awards.

Sessions are usually run from 10am to 2pm.  Cost for the 8 session block is £84.85, and £79.20 for any siblings.

If there is snow, training takes place in the Clashindarroch Forest.  Parents must be able to transport children to and from the Forest once skis have been collected from the Centre.

Each week will be spent improving their skiing technique in a group with others of similar abilities.  To finish each week, they will take part in a team game which is usually a twist on an Olympic Winter Sport.  At the end of the block the winning team will be named where a little party with food and games is held, along with the certificate ceremony.

Full completion may lead to a chance to train with the British Nordic Development Squad - the entry stage in the British Nordic Ski Team.

Para Nordic Activities

No snow? No problem! Roller skiing is the summer's alternative to Nordic skiing. Replicating the same technique and motion as on snow, this activity is suitable for beginners and experienced skiers. Enjoy learning a new skill which develops balance, strength and a sense of freedom on wheels. For those requiring

seated adaptations we offer roller skiing with a kneeling ski rig and mountain board. To use seated adapted equipment, participants need to be able to sit upright, unaided and propel themselves using their arms. Participants should expect fun focused, high energy sessions delivered by experienced Nordic ski instructors ready to adapt the teaching to individual needs whilst learning how to move with control on the roller skis/mountain board during the course with the aim of increasing independence on skis on completion. Suitable outdoor wear, knee supports (as needed), gloves and a helmet are required for these sessions. Helmets can be borrowed on the day from the centre. Please note: Participants must be able to propel themselves forward with their arms. Participants must also be able to transfer themselves onto equipment unaided. Please note that there is no hoist available at this facility.

To ensure we have the required equipment for the session, please ensure you complete the booking consent form with all relevant information including medical – you will find the link to this at the bottom of your ticket confirmation email.

Para Camps are available during School Holidays and Public Para Sessions are available by demand.  Please contact the centre to book a slot using the Mountain Board.
