Cancellation the Great Inverurie Bike Ride and Suie Classic Cycle Sportive on Sunday 27th September 2020
It is with much regret and disappointment that I must inform you that due to updated guidance around sport competition and further government guidance we will have to cancel the Great Inverurie Bike Ride and Suie Classic Cycle Sportive on Sunday 27th September 2020.
We are happy to be able to confirm that the Live Life Aberdeenshire event, The Great Inverurie Bike Ride and Suie Classic Cycle Sportive will be going ahead on Sunday 27th September 2020.
There will be alterations to the usual event structure to allow for social distancing, full instructions will be emailed to all entrants in advance, but key changes are likely to include:
- Limited Entries
- Rolling Starts (Spaced out time slots)
- No on the day entries, Strictly Pre-Entries only
- Briefings will be sent in advance by email. No race day briefings.
- We will reduce touch points as far as reasonably possible throughout registration & course.
- Extended Areas to allow for social distancing.
- Face masks required for registration, minimal contact
- Track & Trace health declaration required.
- Spectators discouraged
- Roll through finish, no stopping
- T Shirts to be sent out after event
* This is all subject to obvious Covid-19 caveats, particularly changes in Scottish Government guidance and requirements.
The Suie Classic is a 54mile cycle sportive and the Great Inverurie Bike Ride is open to all with routes of 13 miles, 25 miles with the 13mile route offering a family option.
The scenic 25 mile route remains the same as previous years beginning at Kellands Park in Inverurie, and then heads via Chapel of Garioch, Bennachie, Pitfichie and Monymusk, returning to the start via Fetternear and Burnhervie.
The 13 mile family route cuts off just after Chapel of Garioch and heads down to Burnhervie picking up the main return route.
The Suie Classic 54 miles is scenic but challenging route it passes through the Chapel of Garioch branches of to the Lord's Throat to Keig, up Suie hill and on to Brindie and back through the Lord's Throat to join the remainder of the 25 mile route back to Inverurie. The route is on quiet roads through the beautiful Donside and Bennachie hill range.
ALL RIDES WILL BE ELECTRONICALLY TIMED WITH LIVE RESULTS.
Unfortunately due to current circumstances and guidelines there will be no activities or food in Kellands park before or after the event.
Also there will be no refreshments or toilets available in Monymusk this year due to the current circumstances.
We will have waterstations on the course but no food or snacks available only water. Please come prepared.
Entrant will be given an allocated time to register and start. You will arrive in your allocated time to collect your race number and roll through the start line within your allocated slot. The event is chipped timed with live results available online.
All entrants will receive an Information Email which will include your time slot. See schedule for start times for the distances.
You can register and pay for your entry online. Entry fees include include an event T-shirt for all participants, which will be sent out after the event.
