Project Paws

Project Paws

Working with Canine Concern Scotland, Therapet owner Amy McKenzie and her Beagle, Noodle visits Inverurie Academy every week to work with a group of pupils on Project Paws. The sessions aim to improve confidence and literacy levels whilst also increasing well-being and decreasing anxiety for certain young people.

The benefits of pet therapy

Evidence suggests, reading with a dog may have a beneficial effect on a number of behavioral processes which contribute to a positive effect on the environment in which reading is practiced. Project Paws feedback has noted a significant increase in reading fluency, general confidence and well-being with pupils feeling more self-assured and motivated.
