Talented Athlete Pass Holder, David Jarvis meets local councillors and children from Port Errol Primary

Children and staff at Port Errol, along with Councillor David Keating and Councillor Dianne Beagrie had the pleasure of meeting one of LLA’s current Talented Athlete Pass holders - David Jarvis.

David Jarvis is a dedicated individual whose journey is a testament to resilience, leadership, and triumph over adversity! David presented talks, answered questions and showcased his bike and medals and awards to all 7 classes at the school on Thursday 15th February.

With a distinguished 21-year career in the British Army, David served in the Royal Corps of Signals, ascending to the role of Foreman of Signals while earning a BEng (Hons) in Telecommunications Engineering. His military experience encompasses diverse roles, including leading the British Army's sole Technical Surveillance Countermeasures team and excelling as an All-Arms Physical Training Instructor during multiple overseas operations.

Despite encountering challenges, David's indomitable spirit led him to represent Team UK at the 2023 Invictus Games in Germany. This is after enduring a near-life-threatening experience with Diabetic Ketoacidosis during training and subsequently being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, he then defied odds and clinched a gold medal in the cycling time trial event. His remarkable feat earned him the title of the fastest cyclist across all categories.

Beyond the sporting arena, David remains an ambassador for Team UK, actively engaging in international and local outreach. His commitment extends to PR events, school visits, contributions to the Scottish Men's Shed Association, and serving as a valued member of the local District Community Association committee.

David's journey is not just about overcoming obstacles; it's a story of resilience, triumph, and the unwavering commitment to inspire others.

Head Teacher, Yvonne O’Neil was delighted with the day “ David spent the day inspiring all of our young people to always do their best. Each class were engaged and enthusiastic as David tailored each session to their interests. A motivating day for both staff and pupils”
